WW1. War medal & Victory medal to E. Stokes. Worcestershire regt. Inc 'Soldiers Small Book'
Edward Stokes volunteered in Aug 1914 and saw service on the western front from September 1914 where the National Roll of the Great War, records him as taking part in many important engagements and being gassed and wounded, and eventually discharged in 1917 when he returns to his previous employment as a machinist. His medal index card shows his entitlement to the 1915 star and the Silver War Badge, neither of which are with this lot. There is however his 'Soldiers Small Book' which shows him joining as a reservist in August 1912. The medals are GVF. The book has all 34 pages and is aged but undamaged apart from a torn page corner on P7. A fascinating lot.
