BWM correctly impressed PO. 3171/S. A. S. SUMMERS. PTE. R.M.
Alfred Shaw Summers enlisted towards the end of the war on 29th June 1918 He served with the Portsmouth division of The R.M.L.I. but saw no active service in a theatre of war, so the BWM is his only entitlement for WW1. Although he was demobilised on 19th Feb 1919 he did not receive his medal until 1940 (for reasons unknown) The Defence Medal indicates that he took part in Civil Defence during WW2.
An unusual pairing. Mounted for wear. Extremely fine on original ribbons, and includes his Defence Medal transmittal slip (blank reverse)
