The Great War pair awarded to Private H. W. F. Cowdery, South Wales Borderers, who was taken a Prisoner of War in September 1914

1914 Star (10829 Pte. H.W.F. Cowdery. S. Wales Bord.); Victory Medal 1914-19 (10829 Pte. H.W.F. Cowdery, S. Wales Bord); number on second worn through contact, otherwise good very fine 

Henry William Frank Cowdery, of Bratton, served with the 1st Battalion, South Wales Borderers in France from 13 August 1914 but was captured and made Prisoner of War on 21 September 1914 during the fighting around Langemarck. Seeing out the rest of the war in a German P.O.W. camp, his Medal Index Card notes further entitlement to the British War Medal and Clasp & 'Roses' for his 1914 Star.
