(MAGNAE BRITANIAE FRANCIAE ET HIBERNIAE REX FIDEI DEFENSOR BRUNSVICENSIS ET LUNEBURGENIS DUX SACRI ROMANI IMPERII ARCHI THESAURARIUS ET ELECTOR) No, I didn't know what it meant either.
Copper. 25mm. 4.1g. This is stylistically so different from the genuine guinea, half the weight, and with no signs of gilding that it would not have passed as a counterfeit. It is therefore likely to be a gaming counter, but of the period, and a lot rarer than the spade guinea gaming tokens produced in large quantities in the Victorian era. This is a well preserved example.
