Comments

Thought to have been minted in the 1660's The originator is unknown. These coins circulated in the Ireland and the Isle of Man in the 1670's before being transported to western New Jersey by Mark Newby (or Newbie) an English Quaker from Northumberland.

Grading these early pieces is not clear cut. I have seen professionally graded examples described as "VF 30" which do not have full legends. This example is new to the market, a lovely tan colour, with smooth uncorroded fields. The pictures were taken in natural and LED lighting.  All design features and legends are clear, and the coin is unaltered and undamaged. Fine or better in my opinion, but the photos form a major part of the description.
