This is the first of four £5 coins from the Royal Mint in the lead up to the 2012 Olympic Games, with one coin released every year. Issued in 2009 it features a unique design displaying the number 3 to represent the start of the 3,2,1 countdown to London 2012, designed in harmony with images of swimmers racing to the finishing line. The coin also incorporates the Official London 2012 logo.
