Charles Edward Burns was born at Bermondsey in 1880 and was a labourer upon his joining The Queen's Regiment in April 1899. He served in South Africa with the 2nd Battalion from 15 April 1901-7 June 1904, noted as having been with the 22nd Battalion Mounted Infantry, one of the Composite Regiments of Mounted Infantry. Burns transferred to the reserves in 1905.

Sold with substantial copied research including service history. Very fine, with replacement ribbons.
