Correctly impressed to 4852 J. HATTON. GLOUC. R. The medal index card also shows his service number 241699 Gloucestershire regiment.

241699 John Cyril Hatton served with the 1st/4th territorial battalion, (City of Bristol). He was killed in action on 10.10.1917, during the battalions participation in the battle of Poelcappele. He is commemorated at the nearby Tyne Cot memorial.

John Cyril Hatton was the son of Jane Hatton (nee Hughes), of 77, London Rd., Gloucester, and the late John Hatton; he was born in Newent in 1886 and by 1911 he was living at 77 London Rd, Gloucester with his mother and siblings working as a Hide & Leather Factor.

This medal is toned mint state, with a replacement ribbon.
